Let's crochet a little Australian kangaroo, a common animal found across all of Australia. Kangaroos are famous for hopping and can reach speeds of 60kph, clearing more than 8m in a single bound! There are a few different species of kangaroo, so the size and color may vary. Kangaroos can be any shade of brown and beige, white, grey, and even black.

My kangaroo is made of brown 3ply soft baby cotton blend using a 1.25mm Clover hook. It is approximately 9cm tall, which is my favorite size. I like palm or pocket-sized toys because they look delicate, but you can still play with them. They are the perfect size to take with you on your next trip, put on a work desk, bookshelf, night table, or just add to your amigurumi collection.

The kangaroo has flexible paws, legs, tail, and ears. It can change and hold poses. So in this tutorial, we will work with wire. I will also show you how to tint your cotton toy with acrylic.
